Interesting concept tablet computer from Toshiba running Windows 7. Reminds me a little bit of what Microsoft had planned with the Courier concept. I am not a big fan of touch keyboards in general but would love to try out this one, and see what kind of custom apps Toshiba has developed for it. According to eWeek, Toshiba will make this “two slates in one” notebook available in limited numbers “later this summer”. I will try to get my hands on one to play around with it.

The new conversation threads view in Outlook 2010 is a great feature, it already has improved my inbox view a lot. Here is a video from the Outlook team at Microsoft that shows what happens when a thread gets split into several threads. It took me a day to get used to it (old habits die hard) but now that I’ve got the hang of it, I wouldn’t want to miss it. Now I am hoping we will migrate to Exchange 2010 soon too, so that I get the threaded conversations on my smartphone too.

Engadget posted two videos of user interface for the Microsoft ‘Courier’ tablet/e-book/digital journal concept in action. Not sure if Microsoft is really working on it but it looks cool. I love working with Evernote and OneNote, but this concept would add a whole new dimension. I especially like how digital features seem to have been created to support and enhance how people actually take notes with pen and paper – instead of putting digital features first. If this is real (or becomes reality) I could see myself using this and being comfortable with it. I am sure some people think using a stylus is outdated but to me this is a whole new “back to the future” take on the idea of digital note-taking.

When he’s not busy educating Toronto geeks on fashion style, David Crow dedicates a lot of his time to organizing and participating in tech community events.

Now I just came across the Founders and Funders event, which he and Jevon MacDonald of StartupNorth are bringing to Toronto on June 4 – for the second time.

Started in Montreal last November, Founders & Funders is about “helping to connect the founders of early-stage, venture fundable web and technology companies with the funding community in Canada.”

Sounds like a great concept to me.

Founders & Funders is a private, invite only social event.

Founders and Funders is dedicated: to helping Canadian entrepreneurs to meet each other; meet potential funders: angel, VC or other money sources; to have fun; and see how we can help each other create the NEXT BIG successful company.

More information about the June 4 event can be found here.
